The 12th occasion of the Central European Joint Infoday was held in Budapest

Two intensive days, twelve presentations, four workshops, and more than one hundred participants from Austria, Czechia, Hungary, and Slovakia. It was the 12th occasion of the jointly organised Central European Infoday, which was held in Budapest on 10-11 November 2022. The common event organised by Erasmus+ National Agencies from the four neighbouring countries focuses mainly on the international dimension of the centralised programmes in Erasmus+ supporting cooperation in the higher education sector.

The cooperation of the national agencies – DZS/CZELO, OeAD, SAAIC and TPF – goes back to 2012, when the ECCE Mundus promotion project, coordinated by TPF started with the contribution of the Austrian and Slovak National Agencies and the first joint seminar was organised, a few years ago Czechia also joined the initiative. The information events successfully continued in recent years in the format of in person or virtual conference.

This is the 12th occasion when representatives of higher education institutions from four countries meet and discuss Erasmus+ centralised activities. The role of host country is rotating among the four national agencies each year to insure the equal contribution to the common goals, and diversity of the events.

The Joint Infoday 2022 was opened by Laura Sinóros-Szabó, representative of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology in Hungary who shared the Hungarian strategy on higher education regarding international cooperation. The organisers had each time the honour to host representatives of either the European Commission or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency and coordinators of the National Erasmus Offices (NEO). This time Adrian Veale (DG EAC) took an online presentation on policy update on the European higher education.

Invited guests from Armenia, Jordan, Uzbekistan presented possibilities of building partnerships with non-associated third countries (earlier: partner countries) and introduced successful cooperations. Ahmad Abu-El-Haija from NEO Jordan could join us online, and the presence of Lana Karlova from NEO in Armenia, and Aziza Abdurakhmanova from the NEO in Uzbekistan gave an added-value for the event.

Beside the informative introduction of centralised actions, on the second day in-depth workshops offered practical aspects of project preparation and implementation. Presentations of good practice examples of invited HEI-representatives lightened the key points, challenges, and successes of project proposals in the following actions which were followed by intensive discussions:

  • Regarding Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters, Zsuzsanna Tarr (Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, HU) introduced a successful EMJM project called Danube AgriFood Master.
  • In the workshop of Erasmus Mundus Design Measures Jana Janderová (University of Pardubice, CZ) presented about FINDATA project.
  • In the field of Capacity Building in Higher Education Eva Penz (FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences, AT) shared her experiences about the INTEC project.
  • In Jean Monnet Chair action Edina Zsigmond (National University of Public Service, HU) introduced the bEU project for the audience.

Besides the above actions an overall presentation was held on other centralised activities such as the European University Alliances, Erasmus+ Virtual Exchanges, Alliances for Innovation, where participants could share and discuss their experiences regarding the programmes.

It has already been a tradition at our joint Central European contact seminars that we offer a networking forum for all participants in the framework of Market Place. This time 15 participants presented their institutions searching for project partners, exchanging ideas, and maybe also making friends.
