There are currently no open calls in the EEA Grants Scholarship Programme.


Hungarian institutions have been awarded EEA Grants to co-operate with higher education institutions in the donor countries (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). Students can apply for a placement scholarship at their home institution, once they have completed the first two semesters of their studies. Please make an inquiry at your International Office. 

Students can apply for the EEA Grants scholarship at their home institution. Conditions are pre-determined (including deadlines, rules and other conditions). You may consult your higher education institution about available scholarship opportunities. 

No. All program fees related to student mobility are covered by the EEA Grants scholarship program. However, your costs may be higher than your scholarship amount, which shall be covered on your own. 

Student and PhD mobilities vary between 3 – 12 months. However, teacher and staff mobilities range from 1 day up to 6 weeks. Practical placements last from 6 weeks to 12 months while summer school participation is supported for a maximum of 30 days. If you would like to know more about available placements in Hungary, please inquire at your university or higher education institution. 

During your mobility you will take courses with recognized ECTS credits which will count towards your degree at your original institution. 

EEA citizens may enter Hungary and have the right of residence for 90 days. If you are enrolled at an accredited institution you may stay longer than three months. Within 93 days from the date of entry, you have to register at the regional immigration directorate. This registration certificate has no expiry date. 

There are no restrictions in fields of study. However, we advise you to contact your home institution or its Hungarian partner to check available courses for you. 

Yes. As a student you will be entitled for a monthly allowance of 400 EUR in Hungary. Summer school participants receive 900 EUR for their stay (max. 30 days) including 500 EUR for their travels. 

There is a one-time travel contribution of 500 euros included in the scholarship grant in the first month of your mobility.
